Health benefits of Alkanatur alkaline ionised water
Dr. Maria Monsalve
Lecture by Dr. Monsalve at the First National Forum on Lifestyle and Health.
Dr. María Monsalve, Senior Scientist at CSIC. Head of the Research Group at the Biomedical Research Institute Sols-Morreale IIBM (CSIC-UAM) Superior Council for Scientific Research - Autonomous University of Madrid.
Dr. Monsalve, a specialist in the field of antioxidants and oxidative stress, talks to us about the positive impact of Alkanatur ionised alkaline water on various pathologies and the studies conducted to demonstrate the results.
In the following lecture, the doctor presents an overview of the research on gastric problems, inflammation, oxidative stress and even the concentration of microplastics, which function as very stable molecules (Persistent Organic Pollutants) and have a long life span in the body and degrade very badly, as well as chlorine in tap water. A comparison is made between tap water, using tap water from Madrid, and bottled water, which contains these ‘Persistent Organic Pollutants’ with negative consequences for our health, which the doctor will explain during the lecture.
In Alkanatur we decided to analyse our water to test the results on a variety of tumours, hypertension and the intestinal microbiota. The results were clearly positive in the preclinical studies led by the doctor's group at the CSIC. .

Evaluation of the potential benefits of Alkanatur alkaline ionised water on hypertension*.
In this preclinical study on arterial hypertension, a significant improvement in vascular response was observed, with no detectable harmful side effects. The results are therefore consistent with those obtained in the previous study on tumour development, which showed an improvement in vasculature.
A significant reduction in inflammatory status mediators was also observed in a hypertension model, which is associated with chronic inflammation. This is important, because in the context of hypertension, vascular impairment is generally closely linked to inflammation.
There is trend in the reduction of oxidative stress markers. This observation is also consistent with the data derived from the tumour development study.
The above illustrates the importance of water in our diet. It helps us to maintain our homeostasis, the balance that ensures that we can respond effectively to disease.
Interview with Dr. Monsalve where she shows the conclusions obtained in this preclinical study:
Evaluation of the potential benefits of Alkanatur alkaline ionised water on three types of tumours*: skin, lung and liver.
We would like to present the results of the preclinical scientific study carried out by Dr. María Monsalve (Senior Scientist CSIC. Head of the Research Group at the Institute of Biomedical Research Sols-Morreale IIBM) about three types of tumours: skin, lung and liver and how Alkanatur water influences them. Therefore, we have decided to share the letter that Dr. Monsalve wrote summarising the work they were doing before publishing the final study.
In September 2021, the study was published in the scientific journal "Archives of Medical Science - Civilization Diseases". This annual publication compiles research conducted by scientific groups from around the world on lifestyle and longevity-related diseases in industrialised countries..
The research group came to the conclusion that alkaline water may have protective effects on vascular function in subjects with tumours. In addition, it reduces tumour inflammation and the incidence of metastasis in tumour development..

Alkanatur alkaline ionised water and intestinal microbiota. Anti-inflammatory antioxidant effect
This study was carried out by Dr. María Monsalve's team at the Superior Council for Scientific Research - Autonomous University of Madrid (CSIC-UAM) in collaboration with the Institute of Food Science and Technology and Nutrition (ICTAN-CSIC).
In this study we can see how treatment with Alkanatur water improves the maintenance of the intestinal mucosa and reduces oxidative stress at intestinal level. An increase in Akkermansia bacteria was observed. These bacteria have a very positive effect on the intestinal microbiota while Enterobacteriaceae bacteria, associated with intestinal problems such as dysbiosis, were reduced. All of these findings support the hypothesis that ionised and hydrogenated alkaline water from Alkanatur filters improves intestinal inflammation and reduces dysbiosis, leading to an improvement in general well-being.

This study was carried out to measure the neutralising capacity of water treated through the Alkanatur jug filters against acid residues generated by the organism and its antioxidant capacity*.
This study, conducted at the University of Almeria, scientifically demonstrated the neutralising capacity of the filters of the Alkanatur jug against the acid residues generated by the body and its antioxidant capacity.
In both cases it is four times higher than that of several well-known mineral waters (Neval, Lanjarón) and ultra-distilled water.

Effects of hydration by means of ionised alkaline water for top-level athletes.
This study involved stress tests with exhaled gases while under normal hydration with tap water and 2 months later during one week when hydrated with Alkanatur ionised alkaline water.
During this period, the athletes were in a training and competition phase.

Pre-clinical study evaluating the potential benefits of Alkanatur alkaline ionised water in diabetes*.
Dr. Anunciación Lafuente, Professor of Toxicology at the University of Vigo and Principal Researcher of the group ‘Trace Analysis, Speculation, Metallomics and Toxicological Evaluation’ of the CITI (Centre for Research, Transfer and Innovation), has conducted an in-depth preclinical scientific study to demonstrate the health properties of Alkanatur water on various biochemical and physiological parameters.

Study on heartburn and acid reflux
Voice Institute of New York
Intended to investigate the effects of these in vitro studies, this study was based on whether artesian well water, which contains natural bicarbonates (pH 8.8), could irreversibly denature (inactivate) human pepsin associated with reflux and heartburn problems and establish its potential as a buffer to treat patients with oesophageal reflux.
The findings show that naturally alkaline artesian water at pH 8.8 instantly and permanently denatures (inactivates) human pepsin 3b, and also appears to effectively buffer acid (HCl).
These in vitro data suggest that alkaline water may be a useful and safe adjunctive treatment for reflux disease.
Study on the benefits of alkaline water with high magnesium content
VP Research Institute. Centro de Consultoria em Educação e Nutrição LTDA. Cruzeiro do Sul University, São Paulo, SP, Brazil.
Most studies suggest that consumption of alkalinising foods is associated with reduced bone resorption and inhibited osteoclast activity.
Magnesium intake is associated with a reduced risk of cardiovascular disease, type II diabetes and certain types of dementia such as Alzheimer's disease.
Analysis of Spanish bottled and tap water and the impact of its consumption on urinary lithiasis
Puigvert Foundation (Urology Department)
The Puigvert Foundation (Urology Department) presents a pioneering study on lithiasis ( gallstones or kidney stones), which explains how this pathology can be prevented and improved by drinking sodium-free alkaline water rich in calcium and magnesium.
Acidic environment could enhance the damage caused by viruses and bacteria
University of Kansas
A University of Kansas study suggests that low pH in the digestive tract may enhance the damaging effect of viruses and bacteria in our bodies.
The findings may provide implications for helping to address the crisis of antibiotic resistance to bacterial infections around the world.
