Alkanatur Drops Jug

Once you have received your Alkanatur Drops Jug, open it and you will see that the box contains the jug, the BPA free bottle and the instruction manual. The filte is inside the jug. Remove the lid and remove all the accessories inside.

Once you have all your components separated, you can begin to prepare for set-up. We recommend that you wash the jug before you start using it.

Wash the jug with soapy water and a soft sponge. To avoid scratching the plastic, we recommend that you do not use a scouring pad or rough material.

All the information on how to start using the jug is explained in the instruction manual that comes with the product.

Once you have washed the jug, proceed to activate the filter. Do this before assembling the parts of the jug. .

To activate the filter, follow the steps below:

1. Fill the jug with water up to half full and submerge the filter with the small outlet hole facing upwards until it releases all the air it contains.

If you do not want to hold the filter by hand, you can submerge it and place the tank on top of it, to prevent the filter from floating, for 20 minutes.

2. Place the filter in the tank, with the tank resting on a stable surface. Do not place the green tank on the transparent part of the jug.

3. Place the tank under running water in your sink and fill it completely with water (you can gently tap the filter part of the tank with your hand to speed up the activation process). Allow the water in the tank to seep out and the tank to drain. Refill it twice more and let the water drain out.*

*You can use this water for watering plants. We recommend drinking from the 4th filtration onwards to improve the taste.

Quick video on how to activate and assemble the Alkanatur Drops Jug: see video.

Once the filter has been activated, you can proceed to assemble your jug.

We recommend placing the tank on a stable surface. Insert the filter in the tank, with the grid facing upwards and the small hole facing downwards. Place the filter into the tank and press down so that the filter is fitted all the way to the end of the hole. The tank and filter should then be at the same height.

Place the tank with the filter into the jug and place the lid on the jug from back to front. To make sure the lid fits properly and to prevent it from falling off, tap it gently on the front.

Quick video on how to activate and assemble the Alkanatur Drops Jug: see video.

The water can be used as soon as it has been filtered.

We recommend drinking it as freshly filtered as possible (greater antioxidant power).

We recommend changing the water in the jug every 24 hours if it is at room temperature, and within a maximum of 48 hours if it is kept in the fridge.

A weekly cleaning is essential to keep your Alkanatur Drops Pitcher in good condition.

Steps to follow:

1. Disassemble the jug.

2. Remove the filter from the tank. The filter must only be rinsed with water. Never use soap or any other cleaning product on the filter, as this may impair the proper functioning of the product.

3. Soap the parts of the jug, tank and complete lid with the sponge (do not use the rough part of the scouring pad so as not to scratch your jug).

4. Rinse all parts thoroughly.

5. Allow to air dry or dry gently with a cloth.

We recommend washing the jug by hand for better maintenance. Should it be put in the dishwasher, we recommend using low temperatures.

In hard water areas, we recommend cleaning with lukewarm water and vinegar to keep the materials of the product in good condition. After removing the filter from the jug tank, fill the transparent part of the jug with equal parts of warm water and vinegar. Let it soften for a couple of hours or overnight. The next day, rinse with soap and water as specified in point 3.

Our filter removes toxins from the water but do not eliminate the natural minerals it contains. In addition they add magnesium, ensuring that these essential alkaline minerals are in a bioavailable and ionized form for proper absorption.

These minerals can cause the sides of the jug to become cloudy.

If this happens, remove the filter and fill the jug with water, hot if possible, up to the calcium residue and add a splash of white vinegar or lemon.

These residues will disappear in just a few minutes. Wash the jug with soapy water and rinse it as usual.

How to clean the white jug: see video.

If you live in a hard water area, you also have the option of purchasing the low-magnesium filters. For further information: see video.

Your Alkanatur Drops jug is an investment for life. Its materials, certified and 100% free of endocrine disruptors, emit no toxins into the water, so you can use the jug for many years.

Alkanatur Drops Filters

We always recommend the normal filter - the white one - because of its higher magnesium content and antioxidant capacity. Magnesium is an alkaline mineral, so it will help to raise the pH of the water.

Hard water (or limewater, as it is commonly called) is nothing more than water that is very rich in minerals. These waters contain a lot of calcium, sodium, as well as potassium and magnesium, among others.

The Alkanatur filter adds 18 milligrams of magnesium per litre, so when the hard water is filtered and magnesium is added, the taste may sometimes be slightly stronger (mineral) and may even create a whitish film. Minerals are solids that dissolved in water in large quantities sometimes give it a slight white cast.

However, there are people whose palate is used to a water taste that is very weak, especially bottled water, so they do not like water rich in minerals because of the flavour. So when it comes to this customer profile, we recommend the low magnesium emission filter -the green one-, as its emission is much lower and, although it does not eliminate the minerals that natural water has, it does not add as many.

We also recommend the low emission filter to make the transition. If you have been drinking bottled water, before making the complete change and getting used to the taste of filtered tap water, it is a good option to start with the low-magnesium filter - green - and once you like the taste and your palate has adjusted to it, switch to the conventional filter - white - because of its higher magnesium content.

The filter life is 400 litres or 6 months maximum if the amount of filtering has not reached 400 litres. Whichever comes first.

You can estimate its useful life or know that it is depleted by following any of these three options:

1. Calculate your daily water consumption. Divide the 400 litres of duration by your litres consumed per day. You will estimate the duration of the filter in days. For example: daily consumption: 4 litres. 400 litres (filters) by 4 litres of consumption = duration 100 days (3 months).

2. Chlorine measurement. You can measure the chlorine level in your filtered water with a chlorine reagent that you can buy in our online shop. The chlorine level should be kept below 0.1.

3. Taste. Your taste buds will identify the taste of chlorine once the filter has worn out and you'll know it's time to change it.

*General average filter change rate of our customers and Alkanatur recommendation: every 3 months.

The first thing to do when replacing the filter in the jug is to activate it. To do this, follow the steps below, which are explained in the product's instruction manual.

1. Fill the jug with water up to half full and submerge the filter with the small outlet hole facing upwards until it releases all the air it contains.

If you do not want to hold the filter by hand, you can submerge it and place the tank on top of it, to prevent the filter from floating, for 20 minutes.

2.Place the filter in the tank, with the filter resting on a stable surface that is not inside the transparent part of the jug to prevent the jug from breaking when the filter is pressed into place.

If you go on holiday, take your Alkanatur Drops jug with you and enjoy purified, alkaline water anywhere.

If you can't take your jug with you and you are going to be away for more than 3 days, leave the filter in your fridge. You can keep it in a jar or container, so that it does not absorb the odour of other foodstuffs.

If you are going to be away for 7 days or more, remove the Alkanatur Drops filter, let it drain for an hour, wrap it in cling film or a zip-lock bag and store it in the freezer. On your return let the filter defrost for a few hours and reuse it for the remaining time of its useful life.

We recommend, once the filter is defrosted and placed back in the jug, to filter it once and then throw the water away and start using the water after the second filtering. .

Yes.

The filters remove microplastics and nanoplastics from bottled water. They also add properties to the water, alkalinising it and providing antioxidants.

The Alkanatur Drops Jug and Filters are designed and intended for tap water.

Alkanatur devices are suitable for use with any type of water as long as it is drinkable.

Yes, it is perfectly normal

In the first filtration or during activation, the water may come out with a greyish or blackish colour due to the filter material. Our Alkanatur filters are environmentally friendly, made of natural products: 100% natural coconut charcoal and magnesium, and we do not alter the nature of the materials.

Coconut charcoal, due to its porous nature or even due to the transport of the material, may be more fragmented and broken and may release carbon flecks to a greater extent. It may even stain the water black. In other cases, if it is in a more compact state, it may release very little dust and the water will be completely clear.

Yes.

Any type of water can be alkalinised and ionised.

In contrast to some existing water purification systems such as reverse osmosis, mineral or distilled water, our filters have a longer service life.

You may dispose of the filter in the yellow container.

Alkanatur shower filters

Alkanatur shower filters remove chlorine and heavy metals.

They also disinfect, remove impurities, bad odours and organic matter

They are environmentally-friendly and are certified by the CACTI (University of Vigo) as 100% free of calcium sulphite E226.

Left: Alkanatur 50,000 litre replaceable shower filter. This model has replaceable cartridges, so its case can be reused.

Right: Alkanatur shower filter 30,000 litres. This filter has no replacement parts. Once it is finished, you dispose of it and buy a new one.

The installation is very simple.

Installation video: see video.

Both models can be installed in the same way.

The pre-filter should be changed halfway through the filter's service life (approx. 5/6 months) or if there is a blockage and less pressure.

Since the pre-filter collects the more solid impurities in the water and protects the filter, which is located inside, it is the first to wear out.

If you notice a drop in shower pressure or changes in temperature and you have already changed your pre-filter, follow the steps in the video below to clean and unclog the inside of the filter of any grit or solids that may be in the water.

To clean the filter see video.

Both models are cleaned in the same way: the 30,000-litre model and the 50,000-litre replaceable model.

In the box you will see a black washer. It is an O-ring. The filter is fitted with one (transparent) to seal it. The black one is a spare in case the one on the filter breaks or gets lost.

Kitchen sink units

Depure Ultrafiltration Systems filters are replaced annually.

The filter maintenance of the Total Depure 800 reverse osmosis system is annual. The machine notifies you when it needs to be replaced.

About water treatment methods

Alkanatur equipments should only be used with potable water. That is, our equipment does not eliminate bacteria from the water, since the water must be previously treated, free of bacteria and in potable condition.

Chlorine is the main method of water purification, as it acts as a disinfectant. Therefore, the tap water that reaches our homes (unless institutionally advised) is drinkable and suitable for consumption.

Cases of water coming from wells, springs or other sources must be previously analyzed and treated for safe use.

Regarding bacteria that can subsequently proliferate in the water through carbon, Alkanatur filters have an Antibacterial Certificate, whose analysis provided by the Ceramic Institute of Galicia demonstrates that the filter produces bacteria-free water. You can find all the certificates here: Go to Certificates.

Before purchasing a water alkalinisation system, request certification from a reputable institution on the chlorides and sodium emitted by the system's filter.

We recommend that filters should not last longer than 6 months due to the high risk of bacterial and microbiological contamination after this time.

In some filter models, silver is incorporated into the charcoal as a means of alleviating this problem. This material has been restricted by the FDA and other international organisations because of potential health risks.

Always request a satisfaction guarantee of at least 30 days.

The alkalinising drop system adds minerals to the water.

People with health problems should take precautions with this system as it adds sodium, a mineral that is contraindicated in many pathologies.

In addition, the antioxidant capacity is very weak compared to Alkanatur water.

This type of jugs, due to their ion exchange resin, usually add chlorides and sodium to the water.

They are generally acidic waters, with hardly any antioxidant capacity and with a very poor supply of oxygen.

As always, we recommend requesting reports from well-known institutions to know what the jug produces and the effects it has on the treated water.

About Alkanatur antioxidant alkaline water

Our body pH is prone to acidification as a result of diet, stress, pollution, etc.

Alkanatur alkaline ionised water helps to balance the body's pH, guaranteeing a pH between 8.5 and 9.5 in any part of the country.

It also has a great antioxidant* and oxygenating capacity.

  • It purifies. It helps to eliminate up to 99.9% of chlorine, heavy metals, pesticides, etc. when present in tap water. This function is carried out due to the powerful action of the purity and absorption of the coconut charcoal.
  • It alkalinises. Normally most water has a neutral (7) or acidic (less than 7) pH. Our jug provides a pH of 9 that is ideal for drinking, as recommended by experts, anywhere in the country and with any type of water (tap, mineral, reverse osmosis, distilled). This water, together with an alkaline diet, helps to regulate the body's pH.
  • It ionises. This is the most unfamiliar function, even to many experts, but the most important for our health. Every day free radicals attack our cells. From a certain age onwards, our natural antioxidant defences are diminished and we need external help. Alkanatur alkaline water, due to its low molecular weight, acts by eliminating the fast free radicals. In addition, its patented CAM (maintained antioxidant capacity) system has a bioavailability of 77.7%, compared to 10% of other systems that ionise water. This function allows the antioxidants provided to reach the affected areas quickly* and in the right quantities (all of this has been demonstrated by several scientific studies carried out in several prestigious Spanish universities and prestigious sports centres such as the Reebok Club in Madrid).
  • It oxygenates. The higher the pH of a liquid, the more capacity it has to supply oxygen. For example, a conventional soft drink has a pH of 3, so it lacks this quality.
  • It mineralises. It provides 18 mg/litre of ionised magnesium, which together with the calcium and potassium present in water in ionic form, helps to balance our organism with these precious ionised alkaline minerals.

No, Alkanatur alkaline ionised water does not lose its properties when boiled or cooled.

Yes, it is a perfect combination. The proportions would be 20% seawater and 80% Alkanatur water.

It can also be consumed with all types of infusions, even using cold water, as ionisation increases the penetration power of the water and therefore its dissolution.

Alkanatur alkaline water infusions are recommended for purifying and cleansing the kidneys (combined with stone-breaking herbs) and liver (with dandelion, artichoke and milk thistle).

It can be used for a wide variety of purposes. In addition to its main function as a drinking water, Alkanatur alkaline water can be used for the following purposes:

  • To remove agro-toxins from fruit and vegetables. We recommend soaking these products in alkaline water for 5 minutes.
  • To cook with. Vegetables have a more intense colour, and food in general becomes more flavourful.
  • For herbal teas and coffee. Infusions can also be made with cold water.
  • Cosmetics. It has a high moisturising effect and can be used as a make-up remover.
  • Dental hygiene. Use as a mouthwash (the bacteria that cause cavities and other pathologies only proliferate in acidic environments).

No.

When it comes to antioxidation, the most important characteristic is its bioavailability. This refers to the percentage of this property that is absorbed by the human body.

All the systems we have analysed barely reach 10% of their effectiveness. Alkanatur has the patented CAM system (Maintained Antioxidant Capacity) whose bioavailability reaches 77.7%, as demonstrated by studies carried out at the University of Vigo.

Hydrogenated water does not have an alkaline pH.

Both share a common antioxidant capacity which depends greatly on their bioavailability.

According to most experts, diseases develop in acidic, oxygen-depleted (hypoxic) environments with high levels of free radicals.

Hydrogenated water only fights free radicals. Alkanatur alkaline ionised water fights all of them.

When we drink alkaline water we help to balance the body's pH.

The stomach normally generates more hydrochloric acid. This hydrochloric acid produces water and bicarbonates. These bicarbonates are then incorporated into the bloodstream, thus maintaining the alkaline values that our body needs.
